The thing about Christmas

Hello my loyal readers! I wish you all having a great holiday and a marry Christmas. Well...for me its a new experience this year because we don't celebrate Christmas in the country I come from. I personally don't celebrate any of our holy calendar occasions. In general I enjoy to watch the spirit of all holidays and the fun and joy it brings to the homes. For me .. the thing about Christmas or any of those type of holiday is all about love, gatherings, feasts, giving, and gratitude..no matter what the holiday means or what culture it comes. And that what makes us all the same in this world after all!

During my last traveling trips I attended many foreign holidays / occasions with the local people, Such as the Ghost day in the Indo culture, Easter, Halloween ext... and more which I can't recall their names at the moment.

This year I enjoyed trying the Swedish Christmas foods and drinks, Christmas songs on the radio, attending the church musical event, I adored the lovely decorations and lights everywhere, the beautiful Christmas tree and seeing the children happy to see Santa. And above all  I enjoyed giving and receiving gifts! it was a very interesting experience for me..

Have a happy holiday...

Travel Tales: Coffee Luwak In Bali

First time I heard about  it was on my number one favorite movie The Bucket List  2007. I didn't take it seriously until I visited Bali last year.

Kopi Luwak ( Local name) comes from the Indonesian island of Sumatra, an area well-known for its excellent coffee. Also native to the area is a small civet-like animal called a Paradoxurus. That’s the scientific name, but the locals called them Luwaks. These little mammals live in the trees and one of their favorite foods is the red, ripe coffee cherry. They eat the cherries, beans and all. While the beans are in the Luwak’s stomach, they undergo chemical treatments and fermentations. The beans finish the journey through the digestive system, and exit. The still-intact beans are collected from the forest floor, and are cleaned, then medium-roasted and ground just like any other coffee.

The resulting coffee is said to be like no other. It has a rich, heavy flavor with hints of caramel and chocolate. Other terms used to describe it are earthy, aromatic, sweet and exotic. The body is almost syrupy and it is probably the smoothest coffee known to mankind.
One must wonder about the circumstances that brought about the first cup of Kopi Luwak coffee. Who would think to (or even want to) collect and roast beans out of animal feces? Perhaps a native figured it was easier to collect the beans from the ground this way, rather than having to work harder and pick them from the trees? We will likely never know. But because of the strange method of collecting, there is not much Kopi Luwak produced in the world. The average total annual production is only around 100-pounds of beans.

Because of the rarity of this coffee, the price is quite outrageous. The current cost for a pound of Kopi Luwak is around $1,000.00 USD or more. Some other adventurous coffee houses are selling it for $ 120.00+ by the cup. The coffee is so spectacular that it’s truly worth that amount of money. After all, you are paying for the experience of enjoying such an unusual and rare delicacy.

Would you like to try a expensive cup of Coffee Luwak?

Winter Wonderland

Hello readers! its been a while since I blogged anything... I miss the whole blogging network and I will try to catch up on all the updates and comments on my previous posts when I am done with my studies and everyday activities. Here I am as you see in the wonderful winter wonderland in Sweden, its been snowing since a week now. The last days been quite heavy specially last Friday night and Saturday. All went fine and I am getting used to the new weather slowly, I been in snowing places before but not this much. My first time to see the snow was in Dec 2009. At the moment its - 14 c and I was told its going to get lower and lower from now on.

Since I got here I been busy with making lots of handmade things to join the Christmas market in town for the first time. It was a great opportunity for me and I sold 5 items apart from other cakes and bakery things, was all sold very quickly.

I am still up for this challenging experience;  new culture and language.... But I know Its worth the effort, all I gotta do is to be patient.

I wish you all happy December  2012.

Estonia: Travel tales

Photos from our trip to Estonia Jan 2015

A seagull was flying over a beach, when it saw a mouse. It flew down and asked the mouse:
" Where are your wings?"

Each animal speaks its own language, and so the mouse didn't understand the question, but stared at the two strange, large things attached to the other creatures body.
" It must have some illness, " thought the mouse.

The seagull noticed the mouse staring at its wings and thought:
"poor thing. it must have been attacked by monsters that left it deaf  and took away its wings."

Feeling sorry for the mouse, the seagull picked it up in its beak and took it for a ride in the skies. "Its probably homesick," the seagull thought while they were flying. Then, very carefully, it deposited the mouse once more on the ground.

For some months afterward, the mouse was sunk in gloom; it had known the heights and seen a vast and  beautiful world.

Flowers Day

Do you adore bright colors and floral art works? Here is a new watercolor painting in my Etsy Store. Its an original painting of 9 red tulips painted in red. The painting has a mix of yellow, orange, green colors  and a blue background. It was hard to find the right frame for this one, I guess it would look even  much better in a white frame with a bit of white space between the painting and the frame to make it look richer. The photo you see above is only a preview of the art work, you can see whole painting details here..

happy viewing..

My Handmade Text Pillow

Hello lovely loyal readers, I am back with a new DIY idea. I made this lovely text pillow last week and thought of sharing the tips (in photos) with you guys. As you see its not hard to personalize the text/quote  you want to have on the pillow fabric using a font form.

If you have more creative forms with other shapes  you can use them and fill the blank space with black ink / wax and iron it when done!  I found almost same type of pillows in a house decor shop, and a small text pillow like this costed  20 USD. So now I am so glad I did it myself, Isn't it nice and easy :-)

P.S next post will be about featuring 3 bloggers to help grow the blogging network and spread the love. If you want your blog to be featured email me: 1) a photo of yourself or a photo that present you. 2) Three of your social networking addresses such as Twitter, FB, Bloglovin. 3) a small paragraph about yourself , what you do and what you blog about.

The Sailing Boat

Today I present one of the sailing boat paintings that I worked on the last month. Actually this one is one of my favorite (watercolor) works of art this year. The painting is perfect for blue and beige interior designs,  beach houses or boys room. As I mentioned before, sometimes its hard to find the right frame for each painting, so I hope this one is suitable.. there is also silver frame in the same classic shape but the golden seemed more richer to me.

I guess its nice to keep the framing optional because people have different color and style tastes, what do you think?!

Turkey: Holiday in Bodrum

It was a last minute plan to go for a short trip to the lovely small town called Bodrum. In the southwestern Aegean Region of Turkey . The city was called Halicarnassus of Caria in ancient times and was famous for housing the Mausoleum of Mausolus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient WorldBodrum Castle, built by the Crusaders in the 15th century, overlooks the harbour and the marina. The castle grounds include a Museum of Underwater Archeology and hosts several cultural festivals throughout the year.

When we first arrived I felt like the city has a little bit of Tunisian touch, the buildings, the sea and the weather, specially with all the palms I kept seeing everywhere. But after I had a tour around its streets and marina I noticed that it looks more like a small town in Greece and that made me want to read about the History of the city. Reading about more about the roots of the city today I found out that the first recorded settlers in Bodrum region were the Carians and the harbor area was colonized by Dorian Greeks as of the 7th century BC.

Bodrum is  the 4th city I visited during my stay in Turkey. It was very nice city, and I really had good time being close to the Mediterranean sea, it makes me feel kind of , HOME!

New digital painting

Hello readers, Today I would like to present another new type of art that I tried and I am willing to develop it in the coming days. Digital painting became very popular now days and considered as modern alternative art, it helps adding small details and effects to normal painting and give a touch and a vision of reality.

Here is my first two paintings made by mixing photos, tools and adding effects to a very simple painting.  Digital paintings can be printed in many sizes and are able to be personalized, be framed, used as cards or book covers ext..

Some people still prefer simple original and classic art. What do you think of the alternative art and specially digital paintings ?

Feel free to check more of my art works at MadeByHind fan page.

Baking day

Inspired by Val owner of ValSolCal Blog, I baked a lovely cake today using same recipe she posted few months ago called Triple Berry Crumb muffins. I love baking so much, but I rarely do it because I am not so much into sweets. But I know that from time to time its nice to bake something for family and loved ones. I guess in the coming days I will have a baking day one or twice a week. Its really fun..

If you would like to have the same recipe, check ValSoCal and get inspired by her food recipes and photography.

A little bit of healthy narcissism is needed

Since I had a stressful week worrying about things might or might not happen and suffered a very severe insomnia catching up on things and carrying the world on my poor shoulders, I made a plan this morning while I was on the bus ride to work, which is, to have a one of a kind weekend.

I made a promise to myself that I wont get too lost with the world orbits, I would rather set down, relax and make my own, with things that matters the most to me in person. So first I started from today and made a small to do list to tick off all my out standing matters between relatives, friends, finance ext.. to help clearing the wight of respectability that buzz's my mind and ruining my peace of mind. So on Friday I will do all the things that I usually leave for the weekend, such as house tasks.. all together no matter how much time it will take to get them done.

Here is my healthy narcissism plan XD (healthy self-love) :

-Start the morning with an early rich health breakfast
-Go out for at least  45 minutes jug or long walk by the coast
-Pamper myself with a long hot bubbles bath, body scrub and all body care related..
-Cook a favorite meal that I enjoy making
-Stay in the outdoors all day long to enjoy fresh air that I miss during work days.
-Paint, read, swim, have a happy hour drink while listening to favorite music ext..
-Have along walk by the beach and take photographs as I used to do before
-Will do longer time meditation and yoga with the full set of spiritual items such as incense, candles and flute music.
-Make a plat of finger food and wine and enjoy my favorite jazz albums
-Watch a move I wanted to see since long time or read a very desirable book until I fall a sleep.
+List is still on progress until I collect more ideas..

The main thing in this Healthy Narcissism plan is to only care about myself  for full two days in a row, as if I am the only one exists, and for the very first time have anti Internet weekend, I already don't watch TV or use telephones, but Internet is my main addiction. I will avoid news and social life and everything that interrupts me from enjoying my own existence in this world.

What do you think of the plan? do you agree with me, or you think its too selfish?

I am still very amused by the Eat, pray, love book as you can see .... hehe

Turkey: A Getaway To Oludeniz

Spring - Summer 2012

This was a trip we took in the beginning of spring this year. It was already summer in Oludeniz and the weather was perfect and not too hot. I was so tempted to go there since I came to Turkey the first time to be honest, but it just never happened. Oludeniz and The Butterfly Valley are the nicest locations in Turkey during summer time.

During the trip I had a hang gliding tour over the area which was one of the greatest experiences Ive  had  and that felt so great and made the whole trip even more fun. The town was very small and the buildings were all simple and perfect for a beautiful coast like these. There was many nice classic old style boats on the beach made it look like one of the Caribbean beaches in the movies.

The view and the whole place looks exactly like the photos you see. No photo fix or anything! I was really amazed by the trip and I added this location to the most beautiful places I have been.
